OUR STORY

My name is May Mac.  I have an MBA at Santa Clara University, which makes me a SCUMBAG - SCU MBA Graduate, and a BA in Business Management Economics at UC Santa Cruz (no fancy acronym here haha).  I worked in Corporate Operations for almost 15 years before I started my business.

I come from humble backgrounds (just a fancy way to say poor lol) with immigrant parents who fled their home country as war refugees.  We didn't have much but our parents gave us a lot of love and laughter.  Giving is a huge part of our culture and family values.

My company was founded based on the concept of giving.  Giving to friends, family, the community, and let's not forget ourselves!  My products “wood” be remembered by both the giver and the recipient.  The gift itself "wood" also be remembered (my stuff are pretty awesome, at least I think so haha).  Hence the company name - Wood Be Remembered.

I love working with wood.  Most of my wood items are made from birch wood.  Birch wood symbolizes new beginnings, strength, growth, endurance, and resilience.  I actually started my business while I was living out of my car (long story, please don't tell my parents lol)!  Laughter provides joy and encouragement.  Food in a lot of cultures are shared to bond with friends and family and given as a symbol of love.  I’m not a chef (haha) so food puns were created instead.  I wanted to create a business to incorporate all those elements while doing a little good in this world.

Wood Be Remembered serves up deliciously funny food puns because life’s better when you’re spreading fun and laughter, one pun at a time.

​I also source raw materials from vendors in the US because we love to support the American economy.  Being an American ain't easy (or cheap haha).
